Horimaru

Luar Martinez a.k.a. "Horimaru"  began tattooing in the Yucatan about 16 years ago, and before being introduced to Japanese tattooing, he was inspired by his own Mayan background, and he began tattooing Ancient Mayan designs on a small island in the Mexican Caribbean.

Luar has always been interested in ancient cultures, and the relationships between ancient cultures and their traditions of tattooing.

Luar also has been studying Japanese traditional tattooing (Irezumi) under "Shodai Horimasa" for the last five years.  He has been learning "Tebori-traditional hand tattooing. Tebori is a traditional method of tattooing by hand which started in Japan, and requires great mastery of hand, body, and mind.  After studying for years under Shoadia Horimasa, he was given the title of "Horimaru ".  In Japan, your master will only give you a title once he sees that you are committed to the study of Japanese tattooing.
